Pocos habrán oído hablar de Warren Boyd, pero si decimos que es el hombre que ha ayudado a desintoxicarse de las drogas a buena parte de la comunidad de Hollywood, entonces empieza a parecer interesante. “The Cleaner” gira en torno a un trasunto de Boyd, que en la ficción lleva el nombre de William Banks. Igual que le ocurrirá al personaje real, el protagonista de la serie es un ex drogadicto al que la estancia en prisión y el nacimiento de su hija Lula han hecho cambiar, “limpiarse” en el sentido más literal de la palabra, ya que no sólo está firmemente convencido de abandonar las drogas, el sexo y el juego, sino de hacer un pacto con Dios para tener una segunda oportunidad y convertirse a cambio en un verdadero apóstol de la causa ayudando a otros a seguir su camino. Dans toutes les situations d'urgence, il sera désormais celui qui aide les autres à vaincre leurs propres dépendances. Pour mener à bien son combat, il est entouré d'une équipe assez éclectique. William Banks decide di disintossicarsi da tutte le sue “dipendenze” quando capisce che sta per perdere la sua famiglia. Allora chiede a Dio una seconda opportunità e in cambio si dedica anima e corpo ad aiutare chi ne ha bisogno a liberarsi da qualsiasi tipo di dipendenza, dall’alcool alle droghe. Per raggiungere lo scopo, costituisce anche un team specializzato e composto da “ex addicted” come lui.
