CBC Gem is CBC’s streaming service, offering more than 4,000 hours of live and on-demand programming for free. Canada’s destination for acclaimed, authentically Canadian programming and a curated selection of best-in-class content from around the world, CBC Gem provides live and on-demand access to CBC’s full programming slate spanning drama, comedy, factual entertainment, documentaries, arts, kids, sports and national and local news programming, including the ability to live stream CBC TV at any time with access to fourteen CBC channels and their local newscasts across the country.
Launched on October 17, 1997 by its original parent company CHUM Limited, Space was a Canadian English language specialty channel that primarily broadcast speculative fiction and related programming. Its slogan, The Imagination Station, continued to be used informally by its fans for several years after its retirement. In 2007, Space was acquired by CTVglobemedia, after acquiring CHUM Limited, while the Citytv stations were sold to Rogers Media.
