Der thronfolger

Preußen 1730: Kronprinz Friedrich, der spätere Friedrich II., will nach Frankreich fliehen, um der unerbittlichen Strenge seines Vaters, des "Soldatenkönigs" Friedrich Wilhelm I., zu entgehen. Doch der Fluchtplan misslingt und Friedrichs Freund, der Leutnant Hans Hermann von Katte (Jan Niklas), wird vom Preußen-König zum Tode verurteilt. Allen Gnadengesuchen zum Trotz wird auch Friedrich von seinem Vater zu Einzelhaft in der Festung Küstrin verurteilt und entrinnt dadurch nur knapp dem Todesurteil.
