El sargento Bevilacqua y su ayudante, la todavía inexperta agente Chamorro, se enfrentan al asesinato de una mujer cuyo marido, poseedor de un largo historial de malos tratos, se convierte en el principal sospechoso. Sin embargo, la autopsia de la víctima dará un giro inesperado, relacionando su muerte con un asesino en serie que no actuaba hace dos años.
