Jackson joined BBC tv Features Group in 1973 and produced/directed documentaries and prestigious docu-series including The Ascent of Man and Connections. In 1984 he turned to drama with the acclaimed apocalyptic drama Threads. In 1987 he became director of feature movies in Hollywood, directing The Bodyguard, LA Story, Volcano, Denial and others.
