Michel Barette

Michel is the only one who can boast of being from two regions: he was born in Chicoutimi and lived in Alma. The summers of his childhood, he spends them at his grandfather's house listening to the colorful stories of this fabulous storyteller who inspires him and serves as a real model; we therefore understand his ease in telling stories! When we know Michel today, his choices at the beginning of his career may seem funny to us. First of all, he joins the Armed Forces: it's a little serious. Then, he becomes a collection agent: it's really too serious! Because he has a tinted verb, he is hired as a credit manager in a Caisse Populaire. Finally, he discovered improvisation in 1982. A revelation for the inexhaustible potential of this versatile artist. He therefore announces to his boss that he is resolutely changing jobs and that he will now be an actor. A whole turn! A comedian, storyteller, actor and animator was born! On July 7, 1983, Michel participated in the Festirame d'Alma; it was at this very moment that Roland Hi was born! Ha! Tremblay, which is a great success during the multiple performances of his show throughout the province. Then, he was invited to the program Casse-Tête on Télé-Métropole and became its co-host for the 1987-88 seasons. In March 1989, Michel shared the stage for the first time with Roland Hi! Ha! In his first one-man show entitled "En spectacle avec Michel Barrette" which is a resounding success. For Christmas 1988, he launched his first album, Le temps d'une dinde, which became THE success of the holiday season as evidenced by the 250,000 copies sold. In 1991, everything was shaken up: while he shot the film La Postière in St-Narcisse, he recorded Scoop in Montreal, he played Parent-Barrette on the stage of Magog's Vieux-Clocher, walks Hi! Ha! Michel est le seul à pouvoir se vanter d'être originaire de deux régions: il est né à Chicoutimi et a vécu à Alma. Les étés de son enfance, il les passe chez son grand-père à écouter les histoires colorées de ce conteur fabuleux qui l'inspire et lui sert de véritable modèle; on comprend donc sa facilité à raconter des histoires! Lorsqu’on connaît Michel aujourd'hui, ses choix en début de carrière peuvent nous sembler cocasses. Tout d'abord, il s'engage dans les Forces Armées: c'est un peu sérieux. Puis, il devient agent de collection: c'est vraiment trop sérieux! Parce qu'il a le verbe teinté, on l'embauche comme directeur de crédit dans une Caisse Populaire. Finalement, il découvre l’improvisation en 1982. Une révélation pour le potentiel inépuisable de cet artiste polyvalent. Il annonce donc à son patron qu'il change résolument d'emploi et qu'il sera désormais comédien. Tout un virage! Un humoriste, conteur, acteur et animateur était né! Tremblay qui remporte un vif succès lors des multiples représentations de son spectacle à travers la province. En 1991, tout se bouscule: pendant qu'il tourne le film La Postière à St-Narcisse, il enregistre Scoop à Montréal, il joue Parent-Barrette sur la scène du Vieux-Clocher de Magog, promène Hi !Ha ! dans des congrès en province et anime une chronique automobile originale au Francoeur Show à CKOI.
