20集现代都市时装偶像剧《北京夏天》，讲述了一段大学生们在面对理想与现实，爱情与事业时的青春校园故事。 1996年北京夏天，大学校园话剧社。一群正值花样年华的大学生们正在筹划排练话剧《蒲公英》。女主角选定了美丽自信的大一女生许群航（曹颖饰），男主角则由很多女生的梦中情人大四男生刘石（罗葳饰）担当，两人一见钟情。然而低调沉稳的刘石却是许群航好友陈馨儿（王彤饰）心中暗恋的对象。不仅如此，广告公司老总罗普英（黄海冰饰）也向许群航示爱，班长顾建新（翟爽饰）开始向陈馨儿展开了追求。而刘石却决定继承父志回乡教书。
