Coober Pedy is the opal capital of the the world and home to one of the most unique courses on the planet. Season 4

  • S04E01 Searching for the Architect

    • September 24, 2019

A French golf course with an elusive architect kicks off Season 4 of Adventures In Golf. Erik Anders Lang visits Golf de Dunkerque Grand Littoral in Téteghem-Coudekerque-Village, about 3 hours north of Paris. Inspired by the military-like architecture of France’s celebrated military engineer Sebastien Vauban, Dunkerque’s vibe harks back to the early 1600s. Sharp, raised edges around the greens, imposing cement walls line the fairways and tall tee boxes occupy this unique military-inspired layout in the heart of Europe. Erik wants to learn more about this architectural achievement from the course’s designer, but luck doesn’t seem to be on his side. He tries to find the mastermind on this episode of Aventures dans le Golf (thank you Google Translate).

  • S04E02 America's Oldest Public Golf Course

    • October 1, 2019

The Big Apple. The Empire State. The city that never sleeps. Erik finds himself in New York for this Adventures in Golf to play the oldest public golf course in the United States. Golfers first teed it up at Van Cortlandt Park in The Bronx back in 1895. The park charged nothing to play (unless you hired a caddie, which would set you back a whopping 15 cents). Because of this, and its proximity to New York’s 1-train station, the course was constantly packed. Demand to play was so massive in the 1920s that the course had to do something. The answer, a reservation system. In other words, Van Cortlandt became the birthplace to tee times in America.

  • S04E03 African Safari Golf

    • October 8, 2019

Gazelles and Giraffes and Warthogs, oh my! Africa is the next stop on this animal-filled Adventures In Golf. Erik travels to Hans Merensky Hotel and Spa in Phalaborwa, South Africa bordering Kruger National Park, to play a golf course that lets the wildlife roam free. The main rule of safari golf is you shouldn’t be on the course at dusk. Guess where Erik finds himself at dusk… Thankfully, no Eriks were harmed in the making of this episode, and the payoff is pretty sweet.

  • S04E04 Is this the Most Beautiful Golf Course in the World?

    • October 15, 2019

All the way up… literally. Erik Anders Lang goes to the top of the world to play the world’s northernmost links course on Adventures In Golf, presented by United. It was totally worth the three separate plane rides and 125-mile road trip for Erik to play this Norwegian masterpiece. Lofoten Links, located in Norway’s village of Hov, is equal parts beautiful and fascinating. It’s location yields a possibility to play it up AM or PM thanks to the Midnight Sun. And the layout is stunning. As Erik describes, “Usually, there’s at least one hole that feels like a puzzle piece jammed into the wrong spot. Not here.”

  • S04E05 This Reversible Golf Course Blew Our Minds

    • October 22, 2019

Same 18 holes, same 18 greens, two completely different golf courses. Michigan is home to America’s only truly reversible course, and Erik’s mind gets partially blown playing it on this Adventures In Golf. Here’s a brief rundown on how The Loop works: There are two routes, Red and Black. On days ending in even numbers, golfers play the Black routing. Odd days = Red routing. Let’s say you tee off from on No. 1 on a Black day. That same spot is where you’d finish your round on No. 18 just 24 hours later on the Red. Another example, being on the 6th tee on a Black day also means being on the 13th fairway on Red. It’s all kinda bananas. Even if you’re terrible at math (like us), you can still appreciate how pure either layout is without getting bogged down with the numbers. Erik also sat down with famed course designer and architect Tom Doak to understand his inspiration for this truly unique experience.

  • S04E06 Israel's ONLY Golf Course

    • October 29, 2019

Imagine there’s only one golf course where you live. Right now, that’s the reality in Tel Aviv. Erik Anders Lang plays Israel’s best (AKA only) track on Adventures In Golf. With more than 700 (!!!) members, Caesarea Golf Club is certainly loved by the locals. However, they wouldn’t mind having another place to play every once in a while. Erik learns why it’s so difficult for Israel to expand its golfing footprint, as well as about the interesting origins of Israeli golfers.

  • S04E07 A Course Fit for a King

    • November 5, 2019

This golf course was built for a King and is worthy of the crown, as we discover in Morocco on this Adventures In Golf. Erik Anders Lang didn’t know what to expect when he came to Rabat for the first time, but what he found will keep him coming back for a lifetime. Royal Golf Dar Es Salam is a world-class facility, and it’s Red Course - designed by famed architect Robert Trent Jones Jr. - is the real deal. Lush fairways lined with cork, oak and eucalyptus trees, followed by some of the sweetest (AKA quickest) greens Erik’s ever putt on make for an experience that completely exceeded expectations. The course currently hosts the European Tour’s Trophée Hassan II event and has seen some esteemed winners over the years including Ernie Els, Colin Montgomerie, Nick Price, Padraig Harrington, and Payne Stewart, who won in ’92, ’93.

  • S04E08 Paradise Golf in the Dominican

    • November 12, 2019

“I created 11 holes and God created seven.” - Pete Dye on his absolute dream of a golf course in the Dominican Republic. Erik Anders Lang heads to play the Dye-designed masterpiece Teeth of the Dog at Casa de Campo Resort on this Adventures In Golf. Erik plays the course with local caddie J.J., who’s seen his fair share of good and bad golf over the years. We loved his story about calling out U.S. President Bill Clinton about his putting stroke. But what stuck with us was J.J.’s story at the end of the episode about how golf changed his life forever. Overall, this resort is seriously paradise and the cameras probably did no justice, which is saying something because some of the shots in this episode look ridiculous.

  • S04E09 Ancient Golf and Pyramid Views

    • November 19, 2019

Playing golf while overlooking of one of the Seven Ancient Wonders of the World was the goal of this Adventures In Golf. While Erik Anders Lang wasn’t able to play Mena House, Cairo’s most famous course with the Giza pyramids in sight, he was able to check out two other sweet tracks during his trip - Egypt’s oldest and newest courses. Gezira Sporting Club has been a mainstay in Egypt for more than a century. Followed up with Newgiza, which opened in 2018 and you can see the pyramids while you play - most notably on a truly gnarly par-3 with a 80-foot drop to the green.

  • S04E10 South Africa's Past, Present and Future in Golf

    • November 26, 2019

Diving into golf’s complex history, beautiful present and bright future in Cape Town on this Adventures In Golf. During this Adventure, we learn about the apartheid’s effect on golf, and play two incredible courses; one of which is the first club to open its fairways to all people regardless of race, gender or religion. In the end, we were stoked to discover a healthy appetite for the game in players young and old. When the course layouts are this pure, it’s easy to understand why.

  • S04E11 Golfing with Special Olympic Athletes

    • December 3, 2019

Meet Faith, David and Kyle. They’re Special Olympics athletes with good swings and hearts of gold. Erik Anders Lang meets up with the trio for an overwhelming experience unlike any Adventures In Golf yet.

  • S05E03 The Only Free Golf Course in the World?

    • November 3, 2020

Are there two sweeter words in the English language than “Free Golf?” No. No there’s not. On this Adventures in Golf, Erik Anders Lang heads to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to play a course with no greens fees and no tee times.

  • S05E04 Malibu's Top-Secret 9

    • November 10, 2020

What if I told you there are nine secret golf holes hidden throughout Malibu? To verify if the rumors are true, Erik Anders Lang loads up the carry bag and attempts to play them all without getting busted on this Adventures in Golf. The spots are Pepperdine University, media mogul billionaire Jerry Perenchio’s previously illegal golf course right along the Pacific Coast Highway, and finally, a backyard five-hole where Erik does something *very* special.

  • S05E05 Ultimate Off-Road Golf in Utah

    • November 17, 2020

We’ve never seen an off-road golf hole quite like this before. Scenic Utah welcomes Erik Anders Lang on this Adventures in Golf. Erik visits the city of Moab, where year-round outdoor activities make it one of the top tourist attractions in the U.S. By a stroke of luck, Erik finds a spot to tee it up at a course called The Hideout, home to Utah’s most elevated green. Before he departs for his next Adventure, Erik takes the Jeep off-road and creates a makeshift par-4 at one of Utah's most recognized landmarks, Eye of the Whale.

  • S05E06 Playing Mike Keiser's Original Masterpiece

    • November 24, 2020

Without this course, destination golf as we know it would look a LOT different. The Dunes paved the way for some of the most revered courses in the U.S., from the mind of one of the most revered developers in golf history, Mike Keiser. Erik Anders Lang tees it up with Mike at the Dunes and understands its impact on the golf landscape today on this Adventures in Golf.

  • S05E07 Golf Course Only Accessible by Lobster Boat

    • December 1, 2020

All aboard!! Erik Anders Lang finally breaks in his lobstering gear and gets his hands (gloves) dirty on this Adventures in Golf. Chebeague is a small island in Maine with an awesome little 9-hole course cherished by the community. Normally, it's a 15-minute ferry ride to tee it up, but Erik found a more adventurous way of getting there. Hope you like Maine lobster.

  • S05E08 Remembering Your First Birdie?

    • December 8, 2020

Carding that first birdie is an achievement all golfers cherish for a lifetime... if they can remember it. Erik Anders Lang revisits the very hole where it happened on this Adventures in Golf. The Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail transformed the entire state of Alabama, and it also happens to be the site of EAL's first circle on the scorecard. Nostalgia notwithstanding, Erik calls this one of golf's greatest road trips.

  • S05E09 A Once in a Lifetime Experience for Fans

    • December 17, 2020

It's the 50th episode of Adventures in Golf. Three of the show's fans: Erica, Brian, and Jose join host Erik Anders Lang at gorgeous Mayakoba for a round they'll never forget.

  • S05E10 Fighting to Save This Historic Municipal Course

    • December 22, 2020

Austinites are fighting to keep this historic municipal course open and accessible to all. Erik Anders Lang and University of Texas alumnus/legend Ben Crenshaw wrap up Season 5 of Adventures in Golf. Lions Municipal has been a longstanding fixture in Austin, Texas, and recognized as the first desegregated golf course south of the Mason-Dixon back in the 1950s. The land the course occupies is owned by the University of Texas, and the lease is up, putting Lions' fate in jeopardy. Erik visits the course and the town to speak with locals about the course's overall impact, including two-time Masters champion Ben Crenshaw, who designed the course and co-created a non-profit aimed to raise enough money to buy the course from UT. Will Lions be saved? We're all hopeful for a future of affordable, accessible golf, but only time will tell.

Season 6

  • S06E01 Playing With Two Of The Best Blind Golfers On Earth

    • September 8, 2021

Bringing a whole new meaning to "a blind approach." Erik Anders Lang tees it up with two of the best visually impaired golfers on earth to kick off Season 6 of Adventures in Golf, presented by United.

  • S06E02 Jaw-Dropping Course of 10,000 Redwoods

    • September 15, 2021

Gigantic redwoods as far as the eye can see. Good luck trying not to hit one. Erik Anders Lang heads just north of San Francisco, California to explore a once-hidden MacKenzie masterpiece on this Adventures In Golf, presented by United. The 9-hole course is a gem, but the vibe you get at Northwood is undeniable.

  • S06E03 Desert Greens Should Never Be This Pure

    • September 22, 2021

Welcome to Marfa, a remote, rugged and unexpectedly trendy Texas town with an artistic side. While Marfa has become famous for its high-end art exhibits, notably by the minimalist artist Donald Judd, there's also a 9-hole golf course with an interesting backstory. Marfa Municipal has the distinction of being the highest golf course in Texas, but here's the kicker; this desert course is ran entirely by TWO guys - Ernest, who oversees the Marfa muni operation, and Mario, who maintains the land. On this Adventures In Golf, presented by United Airlines, Erik Anders Lang meets the staff of two, as well as three Marfa municipal members to see what the course has meant to them. Lastly, it wouldn't be a trip to Marfa without trying to get a glimpse of the famous Marfa Lights. Erik tries his luck but we can neither confirm nor deny what he saw.

  • S06E04 World's "Sweetest" Public Par-3 Course

    • September 29, 2021

Honey, just wait until you see this place (pun intended...you'll see). Erik Anders Lang travels to West Palm Beach, Florida, to check out arguably the nicest par-3 course on Earth on this Adventures in Golf, presented by United Airlines. There are several factors that make Palm Beach Par 3 the ""sweetest"" par-3 course, and the fact that they make their own honey on the property is only part of it. The gorgeous ocean views and outstanding conditions are not typical of your everyday city-run course. Additionally, the original layout was a Dick Wilson design. However, that changed when World Golf Hall of Fame member Raymond Floyd got involved and put his spin on it. What the course's GM and head professional, Tony Chateauvert, has done is created a private golf club aesthetic and atmosphere without the stuffiness that typically comes along with it. Hospitality is the secret ingredient that puts this place over the top.

  • S06E05 Restoring Tijuana's Only Golf Course

    • October 6, 2021

A soon-to-be hidden gem is on the horizon in Tijuana. The restoration of Club Campestre hopes to not only boost tourism, but also be a stepping stone into a better, brighter tomorrow for the U.S./Mexico border town. Erik Anders Lang travels there to find out more on this Adventures in Golf, presented by United Airlines. This isn't Erik's first visit to Tijuana, but it definitely feels like it. That's because this time he's learning of the rich and fascinating history of Tijuana, including its role during the United States prohibition era of the 1930s.

  • S06E06 Shocking Secret Golf Hole in Mexico

    • October 20, 2021

Come for the surf, stay for the hidden 190-yard par 3 down a massive cliff. Erik Anders Lang has played countless golf holes in his day, but no chance he ever forgets this one. Erik visits Oaxaca (pronounced wäˈhäkə) in southern Mexico to see a soon-to-be homemade course with a special finishing hole on this Adventures in Golf, presented by United Airlines.

  • S06E07 Bring Your Own Cart to the Mexican Open

    • November 3, 2021

The unofficial birthplace of Disneyland. Catalina welcomes more than a million tourists per year, and it's easy to see why. The place is perfect... almost too perfect as Erik Anders Lang finds on this Adventures in Golf, presented by United. Just outside Catalina's main strip of shops, sights and funnel cake lies the oldest course west of the Mississippi (depending on who you ask). Today, Catalina Island Golf Course is a fun, narrow and beautiful nine-hole with impressive views. It's also host to the "Mexican Open," a bi-weekly shotgun tourney put on by the locals that Erik experienced for himself. While the "Mexican Open" is awesome, is just a blink into the course's deep, rich history. What started as a three-hole course in the late 1892 was upgraded into a nine-hole course in 1894. Thanks to William Wrigley Jr. (see: Wrigley Gum), it became an 18-hole course in 1928 until it was reverted back to the nine we play today during WW2.

  • S06E08 Dogs Galore at this Extremely Public London Course

    • November 17, 2021

Is it a dog park in a golf course or a golf course in a dog park? What's with the red polos? Who's having a picnic on the green?! Erik Anders Lang heads to London, England, for the truest public golf experience we've ever seen on this Adventures in Golf, presented by United Airlines. There's a lot to unpack in this episode, but here are the basics you need to know going in: the course is the London Scottish Golf Club on Wimbledon Common, and it's the third oldest golf club in England. Since it's a "Common," the grounds are open to everyone, not exclusive to golfers. Another unique aspect of this setup is the 18-hole course is split/shared between two different clubs: Wimbledon Common Golf Club and London Scottish Golf Club. And while they play the same course, their starting holes are different. With all that, welcome to London and the London Scottish Golf Club. See you on the 1st or 7th tee, depending on who you're playing for, and definitely don't forget the red shirt.

  • S06E09 How to Get a Golf License in Germany

    • December 1, 2021

Before you can play on a course in Germany, you need a license. Erik Anders Lang takes the test to get his. Welcome to PlatzreifeDüsseldorf, the site of Adventures in Golf's first trip to Deutschland, presented by United Airlines. Before the big day, Erik heads to Golf-Sport-Verein Düsseldorf e.V. where he meets up with golf journalist Michael Basche for a quick range session. Now, it's Erik's time to put his skills to the test, literally, at the Golf Club of Oberhausen where he meets the head pro, Thilo Fassbender, and his instructor, pro golfer instructor and gnarly skateboarder, Kevin Kunze. After Erik's exam, he makes his way to what will likely become one of Düsseldorf's favorite hang-out spots: Topgolf. Way before the targets and bays are finished, Erik visits with two of the guys responsible for this new location and understands why they specifically chose this German city. To wrap up his trip, Erik tees it up with golf journalist Isabel Von Wilcke.
