משפחת זלאייט המורחבת עלתה מעיראק. ההורים המסורתיים שלמה ודינה נאלצים להתרגל לאורח החיים של חמשת ילדיהם: האחד גר בבית, השנייה לא בדיוק ממהרת להתחתן, השלישי חי בלוס־אנג’לס ועובד בתעשיית הפורנו, הרביעית בכלל חיה בניו־יורק ויוצאת בעיקר עם לא־יהודים, ובן הזקונים צה”ל מייצר בעיות חדשות לבקרים.
