The son. He starts things and never finishes them, gets into all kinds of situations, "a walking disaster zone", but loveable and almost naïve in his view of the world. He doesn't get on with his sister as she is too straight laced, while he has pursued his dreams by becoming a journalist in Manchester and has ambitions to write books and be a huge success. He is impetuous and ambitious, spends money before it's arrived in his bank account, but is loyal to his wife and family.
