After another couple friend of theirs files for divorce, Rishabh and Shefali get nervous and visit a marriage counsellor, Gulfam. He’s a quirky, Urdu speaking, Delhi elite who asks them to try role playing to spice things up, but things don’t go as planned. Later, Rishabh decides to order pizza for dinner, but Shefali and their twin daughters scuttle his plan as they are scared of gaining weight.
Shefali and Rishabh return home after a night out and Shefali is horrified to see that Mummyji, Rishabh’s mother, has re-decorated their living room. This causes Shefali to spend most of their next session complaining about her mother-in-law and drawing parallels between Rishabh and his mother.
Radha and Shyam, a young couple, move in next door to Rishabh and Shefali. When they visit the Malhotras to get some ice cubes, the women seem to be long lost sisters while the men can’t get past their mutual awkwardness. Later, during their session with Gulfam, Rishabh brings up Shefali’s tendency to make them look like a picture-perfect family which often becomes too much to handle.
Gulfam decides to have separate sessions with Rishabh and Shefali and both take the opportunity to bring up not-so-nice things about each other. Later, the family goes to a cafe and runs into a famous actor. Shefali asks him to record a message for Yohan and embarrasses her family in the process.
Rishabh doses off during their counselling session after waking up early to watch an India-Australia test match. This annoys Shefali who believes that Rishabh is more interested in sports than in his kids and gives his parental skills a very low grade. Later, Rishabh and Shefali try to implement Gulfam’s advice and give constructive criticism to their kids but end up annoying them further.
Dia brings her boyfriend home and writes a script for her parents to prepare them for the visit, but things don’t go as planned. Meanwhile, Jia wants to go to a celebrity dietician to become ‘Size Zero' and works as a receptionist at a gym to save up money for this. But her overthinking parents land up at the gym and decide to get her fired.
Shefali complains to Gulfam about Rishabh forgetting her birth date. Jia’s new boyfriend, Gopal, appeases her parents and they decide to open an expensive bottle of wine to celebrate. But Shefali realizes that Gopal is too perfect and that his family who must be very accomplished might think that Jia and her family are beneath them. So, Rishabh and Shefali decide to break up Jia’s relationship.
During their weekly session, Shefali brings up Rishabh’s financial worries. This dredges up a childhood memory of Rishabh’s when his Swiss vacation was cancelled due to his father’s losses. As Rishabh and Shefali introspect about their spending habits, they come up with some innovative ways to cut expenses some of which don’t go well with their kids.
Right before his 40th birthday, Rishabh finds out that he’s lame after Jia makes him take an online test to judge his coolness. This sets off a midlife crisis in him. Two weeks later, Rishabh and Shefali return to Gulfam’s clinic after vacationing in Bangkok, when Rishabh complains about Shefali not buying him a gift on their holiday. Soon, Gulfam tells the couple that he’s leaving for Costa Rica.
A merger is announced between Malhotra and Sons and a Japanese company, and Rish has grand plans for his family. Shefali has started a channel called SheftheChef, which has a growing number of followers. Dia is studying for the SAT exam, Jia has accidentally become a social media influencer, and Yoyo has developed a passionate interest in environment conservation. Conflict arises when their individual goals clash with the demands of being a family.
Rish makes an important decision without consulting Shefali. To help resolve the issues in their marriage, Shefali takes help from a familiar face, Dr. Gulfam. Rish's attempt to make things up to Shefali on her birthday backfires as a most unexpected guest attends the dinner - no other than Shefali's unforgettable ex-boyfriend, Rishabh Jain.
Rish reacts badly to the attention Shefali is getting from Rishabh Jain. However, his attempt to win her over with her favourite dessert is a disaster. He makes a grand gesture for Shefali on the day of Yohan's protest, but in typical Rish style, his efforts manifest as something else entirely.
Rish is distressed that Zoru got engaged without consulting him. Shefali and Rishabh Jain go shopping together, and Rish admits his jealousy to Dr. Gulfam. Mummyji is reluctant to introduce her boyfriend, Roshan to the family, while Jia and Rocky fight over her new friend, Adi. Shefali learns an enormous secret about Rishabh Jain and his cousin, Saurabh.
Jia is confused about her changing relationship with Adi. Shefali is now keeping not one, not two, but three secrets from Rish. Shefali and Rishabh Jain grow closer, which makes Rish extremely insecure. With Zoru as his spy, he attempts to find out the truth, but in the process, discovers Mummyji and Roshan together.
Rish reaches Dr. Gulfam's office and finds Shefali there. The ex-chairman of the society, Mr. Jethmalani has gotten to know Rishabh Jain's secret and outs him. Rish struggles to accept Roshan, even though it costs him professionally. Shefali comments on a social media post of a well-known Chef and begins to be trolled. Jia and Adi discuss their new relationship.
Zoru accuses Rish of not having time for him. Rish and Shefali go to Dr. Gulfam together for the first time since they both restarted therapy. Shefali challenges Chef Maria to a cook off and tests out the menu on her family. Jia seeks advice on her relationship with Adi and Rocky. Rish gives Roshan a chance, but his opinion of him sours even more.
The cook-off between Shefali and Chef Mariatakes place, with the entire Malhotra family in attendance. Both Shefali and Chef Maria must cook and plate up the same menu, which will then be awarded points by a group of judges - one of which turns out to be no other than Akhil Gupta, Bharat Gupta's fatalist son. Dia gives her SAT exam and meets a fellow nerd called Yug.
Shefali's followers surge after the cook-off. Dia goes on her first date with Yug. Zoru's wedding plans encourage Rishabh Jain to make a decision about his future. Jia is determined to choose between Adi and Rocky.
SheftheChef is finally taking off, and Shefali is on her way to becoming a celebrity chef with her own cafe. Dia gets her SAT results. Rish receives devastating news, which drastically affects his future plans. At a grand dinner to celebrate the success of SheftheChef, Rish stumbles upon a pregnancy test - but he has no clue who it belongs to.
