现代少年罗中夏，无意中邂逅了一支与“管城七侯”息息相关的笔灵，一个与笔冢相关的奇妙世界就此为他打开大门。然而少年虽得奇遇，却因怀璧其罪而被各方势力频频觊觎，少年只想躲避纷争，一心寻找退笔之法。虽然退笔的过程总是事与愿违，但少年却因此得到成长，逐渐从一个只会逃避、不学无术的学生，成长为一个有担当，有谋略的“笔冢吏”。
