Presenter and bee enthusiast Maddie Moate, and professional beekeeper Curtis Thompson, lead five kids on a beekeeping and honey-making adventure. The five wannabee keepers don their bee suits and open a beehive for the very first time. During their first Bee School, the beekeepers learn how bees see colour, and how it helps them find food. They also paint hives ahead of the arrival of their very own colony of honeybees. The winner of the first weekly challenge is revealed, receiving the first Golden Honeybee of the series.

There’s trouble in two of the hives, and Maddie visits Harry in Loch Lomond to help locate his missing queen bee. At Bee School, they learn how bees communicate using a 'waggle dance' to direct their fellow worker bees to food. The beekeepers are set the challenge of designing and planting a pollen-rich paradise in their gardens, with the winner being awarded the next Golden Honeybee.

Swarming hives and inclement weather are hampering the beekeepers’ chances of harvesting any honey ahead of the series grand finale. At bee school, they perform a pollinator survey and discover how vital insects are for the survival of life on earth. They are set the challenge of designing beeswax candles, with the winner being awarded the next Golden Honeybee.

Maddie and Curtis are joined by celebrity judge Ainsley Harriott, who helps them decide which beekeeper has produced the yummiest harvest, before he cooks up a sweet surprise with the winning honey.
