After the death of his young wife, Jack Shannon, a New York detective moves to San Francisco with his 10-year-old son, Johnny Shannon, to build a new life. Once there, Detective Shannon is assigned to a special elite squad, headed by Lt. Moraga (Bruce Davies), while Shannon's son Johnny spends much of his time with his grandparents.
