清末民初，富商林家被一夜灭门，后林家独女林梦辰辗转被卖到不义富商黄家，给家中过世的儿子冥婚，梦辰即将被活埋之际，杀手组织血祭堂的头号杀手晓生，正好接到任务灭杀黄家，阴差阳错间救下梦辰。梦辰目睹了晓生杀人的整个过程，不仅没有害怕，还将执行任务的晓生视作恩人，叶晓生决定将林梦辰带在身边，从此兄妹相称此生护她周全。转眼十年过去，晓生为了让“妹妹”有个良好的成长环境，一直活在双重身份中，他在家中、在梦辰面前是商人叶掌柜，做些洋行的买卖营生。在梦辰看不见的暗处，仍是血祭堂的头号杀手。但晓生不知道的是，自己呵护十年，单纯天真的妹妹梦辰，竟然摸清了自己的底细，还暗中加入血祭堂，成为了自己的女徒弟——新人杀手谷雨。
