Brick doufá, že vyhraje ocenění muže roku, ale nečekaně je tato pocta udělena Georgeovi. Lavon se tak musí přemáhat, aby sepsal na jeho počest řeč. Zoe přemýšlí nad novým příjmením, protože poslední kapkou bylo, když zjistila, že se otec přistěhoval zpátky do NY a neobtěžoval se jí to oznámit.
Brick ist enttäuscht, hatte er sich den Sieg bei Bluebells Wahl um den Mann des Jahres doch so sehr erhofft. Doch George hat ihm den Rang abgelaufen und sein neuer Titel hat nicht nur für ihn Konsequenzen: Um den Sieg zu feiern, soll Lavon eine Cocktailparty ausrichten. Angesichts seiner Vorgeschichte mit Lemon, keine leichte Aufgabe. Zoe will ihm mit den Vorbereitungen helfen. Als sie auf der Feier jedoch gebeten wird, eine Rede für George zu halten, ist das Chaos perfekt.
Much to Brick’s disappointment, George is named Bluebell’s Man of the Year. As the town’s mayor, Lavon is expected to host a cocktail party in George’s honor, but for obvious reasons this is a difficult situation for Lavon given his history with Lemon. Fortunately for Lavon, Zoe agrees to step in and help him with the party, but things take a turn for the disastrous when Zoe has to improvise a speech at the gathering. Meanwhile, Magnolia begs Wade to write a song and perform it with her at the party.
