Thomas ist allein aus Kongo nach Großbritannien gereist, seine Eltern und Geschwister sollen in ein paar Tagen nachkommen. Aber Thomas scheint Glück zu haben: Nach einigem Suchen findet er eine Wohnung, die leer steht. Leider ahnt er noch nicht, dass der berüchtigte Gangster Johnny White das Objekt als sein Eigentum betrachtet und keineswegs gedenkt, Thomas und seine Familie dort umsonst wohnen zu lassen...
In this episode, Thomas (Merveille Lukeba) arrives alone in the UK from the Congo. His family are due to join him in a few days, and he has to find somewhere for them to live. He finds an abandoned flat on an estate, but little does he know that local gangster Johnny White (Mackenzie Crook) is his new landlord, and there’s no way Johnny’s going to let him live there for free. Thomas has to fend for himself, but a chance encounter at a bus stop, and a mutual love of doughnuts brings him together with Pandora (Lisa Backwell) and Effy (Kaya Scodelario). They head to Effy’s house, where they find Effy’s mum, Anthea Stonem (Morwenna Banks), has a surprise visitor, her husband’s boss, Steve (David Baddiel). It’s fate for Pandora and Thomas, who hit it off immediately: she takes him to see her Aunt Elizabeth (Maureen Lipman), who just might have the answer to Thomas’s insolvency, with a rather unconventional money-making scheme.

Thomas arrive du Congo et doit trouver où se loger dans sa nouvelle ville. Il repère un vieil immeuble abandonné, malheureusement squatté pr le gangster Johnny White, qui ne veut pas le laisser entrer gratuitement. Thomas va alors faire la connaissance d'Effy et Pandora, et cette dernière lui présentera sa tante Elizabeth, qui a une solution pour régler les problèmes du garçon.

Il giovane Thomas arriva in Inghilterra dal Congo. Il suo obiettivo è trovare in fretta un appartamento in affitto in vista dell'arrivo della sua famiglia a breve. Finisce così con l'occupare un locale abbandonato, senza sapere che è di proprietà del gangster Johnny White. L'uomo lancia quindi al ragazzo una sfida: chi riuscirà a mangiare più peperoncino si terrà l'appartamento. Intanto, tra Thomas e Pandora sembra nascere una tenera storia d'amore.
Thomas acaba de llegar de África y se verá rechazado por algunos de sus vecinos cuando conoce a Effy y a Pandora. Además coincidirá con Jhonny White y sus secuaces por casualidad. Encontrará un trabajo muy cerca de sus nuevos conocidos.
