The British were the first to set up concentration camps. Boers were the inmates. For a hundred years the British tried to ban the Afrikaans language. Contemptuous of the rough peasant pioneers, the British defeated them, then handed South Africa over to them. Next week South Africa goes to the polls. The Nationalist Government, regarded by many as the greatest racialist regime, is accused by its own right wing of leftism and compromise.
