הגשש החיוור היא שלישיית הבידור הוותיקה והמצליחה ביותר בארץ. הגששים נחשבים לסמל הקונצנזוס, כיון שהצליחו ליצור בידור עממי, במובן הטוב של המילה, והתחבבו על בני כל הגילאים והשכבות. מערכונים ושירים שהעלו בעשר תוכניותיהם נכנסו לקלאסיקה של הבידור והזמר הישראלי, ואף העשירו את שפת הדיבור בארץ בעשרות ביטויים. בשנת 2000 הוענק להם פרס ישראל על מפעל חיים.
