כמו הסרט שעליו היא מבוססת, הסדרה מתרחשת בשכונת הבוכרים בירושלים של ימינו, ועוקבת אחרי קהילת מתפללים בבית כנסת קטן שמונה לא יותר מחמש עשרה משפחות. קובי פליסיאן, בן השכונה, חוזר אחרי 15 שנה במיאמי שבמהלכן הפך לכריש נדל״ן מצליח. וכאשר נשות השכונה נמצאות תחת איום, עליהן להתאחד כדי להגן על על דרך חייהן ולהיאבק על הגדרתן העצמית.
