1990-е годы. В обыкновенной шахтёрской семье случается горе – отец погибает во время аварии на шахте. Его вдова тяжело переживает утрату, но вынуждена самостоятельно заботиться о маленьком сыне. Женщина работает не покладая рук, чтобы обеспечить ребёнку лучшее будущее, но сталкивается с новыми проблемами и трудностями.
