"Sonic the Hedgehog," also known as the SatAM (Saturday morning) series, was the second television program to star the famous video game icon. It followed the slapstick "Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog," which was known mostly for its lighthearted approach. The SatAM, however, took on a much darker tone, telling the story of Sonic and his brave band of Freedom Fighters as they struggled to free their home world, the distant planet of Mobius from the clutches of the evil Dr. Robotnik. The first season was an unconventional mix of cartoon characters and a grim setting. Characters were developed and mature themes were explored. The second season, on the other hand, lightened the tone considerably, emphasizing the more comedic aspects of the show and toning down the series' darkness considerably. The show ultimately ended on a cliffhanger after only two seasons due to underachieving ratings. However, this was not the end of the SatAM. The series developed a cult following
L'histoire se passe au xxxiiie siècle2 sur une planète appelée Mobius. Un savant fou, le docteur Ivo Robotnik, a pris le contrôle d'une gigantesque cité nommée Mobotropolis, avec l'aide de son assistant et neveu Lafouine ainsi qu'une armée de soldats robots nommés « cerbères ».
Utilisant un dirigeable géant, le Destroyer, Robotnik détrône le roi de la ville, Maximillian Acorn, l'exilant dans une autre dimension connue sous le nom du « Vide » et faisant du palais son propre quartier-général. Il transforme Mobotropolis en une nouvelle ville, Robotropolis, polluée par des usines, entrepôts et complexes miniers, réduisant les citoyens en esclavage en les transformant en robots, à l'aide d'une machine nommée Robotizeur. Parmi eux se trouvent un vieux hérisson du nom de Jules Hérisson (alias Dr. Hérisson ou oncle Jules) et son chien.

Действие мультсериала происходит в 33 веке, на планете Мобиус, в значительной степени населённой антропоморфными животными. Безумный учёный по имени Джулиан Айво Роботник с помощью своего помощника и племянника Снивли, а также армии роботов-солдат, называемых SWATbot'ами, вторгается и завоёвывает столицу Мобиуса - Моботрополис. La Historia se desarrolla en un Planeta llamado Mobius. Un Despiadado y Tiránico Científico llamado Dr. Ivo Robotnik (Antes conocido como Julian Kintobor) ha invadido y conquistado la inmensa, pacífica y florida ciudad de “Mobotrópolis”, sede del Rey de Mobius, con la ayuda de su fiel Sobrino y sirviente Snively y todo un Ejército de SWATbots (Roboguardias en España y Polirobots en Latinoamérica) de su creación. Mediante una Gigantesca Nave llamada “El Destructor”, ha conseguido tomar la Región por completo, Robotizar a todos sus habitantes haciendo de ellos sus esclavos y convertirla en la siniestra ciudad de “Robotrópolis”, una oscura ciudad infestada de máquinas, factorías, instalaciones tecnológicas, refinerías y polución permanente, pasando a ser ésta su base de operaciones. Ahora el Dr. se dispone a conquistar y dominar el resto del Planeta desde allí.
