Two children receive a strange egg that hatches into their very first Digimon, leading to the night that would change their lives forever.
A year after the events of the first season, a virus Digimon called Diaboromon appears and starts attacking the Internet. The DigiDestined unites once more in order to prevent him from destroying every communications network on the planet.
The older DigiDestined mysteriously disappear. At the same time, a strange Digimon is seen wreaking havoc in the USA. The younger DigiDestined travel to investigate and solve the mystery and stop the strange Digimon.

The Digital World is becoming so overpopulated that the super computer Yggdrasill who governs the Digital World can no longer handle it. Its solution is Project Ark: to wipe out most of inhabitants with the X Program. Yggdrasill chooses a very small percentage to be moved to a new Digital World and then proceeds to destroy the old one. Some Digimon who were not chosen survive anyway, and they move to the new world with a rare gift known as the X Antibody; this antibody changes their appearance and makes them more powerful, while at the same time making them immune to the X Program. No longer in control, Yggdrasill uses the Royal Knights to destroy these X-Digimon, who are outcasts in the new Digital World.
三度の飯よりケンカが好きな少年・大門大（だいもんまさる）。ある日もケンカに明け暮れていた大の前に、恐竜のような姿をした奇妙な生物が現れる。その奇妙な生物「アグモン」は異世界「デジタルワールド」からやってきた「デジタルモンスター」だった。大とアグモンはケンカを通じて意気投合する。ところが、アグモンはデジモン事件の捜査組織「DATS（ダット）」から追われているはぐれデジモンだった。 大からアグモンを取り戻そうとするDATS。追われる大とアグモンの前に、成熟期デジモン・コカトリモンが現れる。その巨大な姿に闘争心をかきたてられた大は、コカトリモンに戦いを挑む。コカトリモンに一撃を加えた大の拳に「デジソウル」が宿る。大のデジソウルを受け取ったアグモンはジオグレイモンに進化し、コカトリモンを倒すのだった。その様子を見たDATSの司令官・薩摩は大とアグモンをDATSに正式にスカウトする。かくして、ケンカ番長・大門大はアグモンを率いて人間界を脅かすデジモンの脅威に立ち向かうことになるのだった。
The plot revolves around Agumon, Gaomon and Lalamon, whose partners are put into an eternal sleep, along with the rest of the humans, because of a mysterious thorn that spread throughout the city. After saving Rhythm, a Digimon in the form of a young girl, they learn from her that the thorns are the work of an Ultimate Digimon, named Argomon, and the four set out for his castle to confront him.

Digimon Adventure 20th Memorial Story was a successful crowdfunding campaign to fund a series of animated shorts connected to Digimon Adventure: Last Evolution Kizuna, the first of which, To Sora, being a prequel set a day before the movie. The rest feature side stories about the DigiDestined and their Partner Digimon going about their every day lives that were unable to make it into the movie itself.
