Alice Gear Aegis (Japanese: アリス・ギア・アイギス, Hepburn: Arisu Gia Aigisu) is a Japanese mobile game developed by Pyramid and published by Colopl; it was originally released in January 2018. The game received an original video animation adaptation by Nomad in September 2021. A console variant of the mobile game, titled Alice Gear Aegis CS: Concerto of Simulatrix, by Mages was released for the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5 in September 2022 in Japan, followed by a worldwide release in 2023. An anime television series adaptation, also by Nomad, is scheduled to premiere sometime in 2023.
Gen Urobuchi (Japanese: 虚淵 玄, Hepburn: Urobuchi Gen, born December 20, 1972) is a Japanese novelist, visual novel writer and anime screenwriter. He is known for being the co-creator of the highly acclaimed and commercially successful anime series Puella Magi Madoka Magica, which earned him the Tokyo Anime Award for Best Scriptwriter, as well as the writer of the 2003 visual novel Saya no Uta, the 2012 anime Psycho-Pass, the light novel and anime Fate/Zero, and the 2013–2014 tokusatsu show Kamen Rider Gaim. Anime written by Urobuchi that have won the Newtype Anime Awards have been Puella Magi Madoka Magica in 2011, Fate/Zero in 2012 and Psycho-Pass: The Movie in 2015.

The show follows crab fishermen aboard fishing vessels in the Bering Sea during the Alaskan king crab and snow crab fishing seasons. The base of operations for the fishing fleet is the Aleutian Islands port of Dutch Harbor, Alaska. Produced for the Discovery Channel, the show's title is derived from the inherent high risk of injury or death associated with this line of work.
