Singer Jane DaSilva inherits the family foundation which is a non-profit detective agency that helps people who aren’t able to help themselves.
The action takes place in the fictional Japan of the year 2030, where the members of the special unit "Section 9" are entrusted with solving various cases of crime, espionage and terrorism. This also includes the case of the "Laughing Man", which caused a stir some time ago, but was never cleared up by the responsible police department. In the course of their own investigation, Section 9 members discover that the Laughing Man case is far more complex than it first appears.
