대전에서 일하는 변 감독은 시나리오 수업을 듣고 생계를 유지한다. 어느 날. 그는 자신의 단편이 칸영화제 단편영화 코너에서 상영된다는 사실을 알고 프랑스로 떠날 계획이다. 하지만 주변의 어려운 여건으로 인해 그가 프랑스로 떠나는 것은 쉽지 않다.
