浮水鎮蓮生紙紮鋪今日來了壹位客人。來人名叫陸小笙，是消閑報的民俗記者。這次來到紙紮鋪，是想向紙紮鋪老板南裳打聽壹樁奇聞異事。據說那是二十年前，百貴鎮喬府小姐喬媛媛枉死，喬管家請紙紮匠劉三為喬媛媛做了紙人陪葬。劉三給紙人點了眼睛，導致喬媛媛借紙人回魂殺了喬老爺。陸小笙並不相信這種封建迷信的說法，可當年和這件事有關的人都已經故去。他打探到南裳便是劉三的徒弟，所以他此次前來，就是想從南裳口中了解這件事背後的真相。
