京都の老舗扇子店の長男と結婚し、東京から引っ越してきたフリーライターの澁澤まどか。450年の歴史を誇る老舗の暮らしぶりをコミックエッセイにしようと、義実家や街の女将さんたちの取材を始めるが、「本音と建前」を使い分ける京都の文化を知らず、女将さんたちを怒らせてしまう。京都の正しき伝道師になるべく奮闘するまどかだったが、事態は街中を巻き込んで思わぬ騒動へと発展していく。
