浅井長政とお市の方との間に生まれた茶々、はつ、小督の姉妹。姉妹が幼い頃、長政はお市の兄でもある織田信長に滅ぼされ、母子は織田家の重臣、柴田勝家のもとに預けられる。だが今度は羽柴秀吉が勝家を攻め滅ぼし、お市は自害し、姉妹は秀吉の囚われ人として暮らすことに。時が流れ、はつ、小督が嫁いだ後、1人で暮らす茶々のもとに、ある日秀吉が現われる。彼は、茶々に側室として世継ぎを産んで欲しいと懇願する。
