Vi får följa några fattiga arbetares livsöden i 1860-talets myllrande och växande Stockholm. Henning sliter som sjåare i storstadens hamn när han träffar Lotten som är tvätterska. "Mina drömmars stad" bygger på Per Anders Fogelströms klassiska bok med samma namn.

In late 19th century Stockholm, young Henning and his friends are struggling to stay alive while dreaming of freedom in a city where there are those who own and those who are owned. Based on the first book of the City series by Per Anders Fogelström, who also is the narrator of the film.
