"Powers" emerged in people at the dawn of the 20th century. Those who have them are soon required to register their abilities with the government. Initially, key workers in the economy, helped build the "City of Tomorrow" But the rise of mechanization in the Second Industrial Revolution ousted them from their once-valuable jobs. Now second-class citizens they must fight to survive.
