Laurent, jeune playboy, vit de ses charmes, entretenu par de riches femmes du monde. Il devient l'amant de Sonia, une jeune femme artiste peintre, amant de coeur s'entend. Mais cette dernière a une amie provinciale, Clotilde. Cette dernière rend un jour visite à Bona. Comme elle vient de faire un gros héritage, Laurent lui fait une cour pressante et l'épouse.
