Rosa Wong Benitez, a struggling fashion designer of mixed Asian descent, protects herself from the vulnerablility of falling in love by having a string of dead-end relationships. Abandoned by her mother when she was a baby, Rosa is obsessed with the old-style Hollywood movie star, Anna May Wong, who she fantasizes to be her mother.
