In einem kleinen Fürstentum leben alle, die in einem richtigen Märchen nicht fehlen dürfen. Der alternde, regierungsmüde Prinz, seine beiden Töchter – die schelmische, aufgeblasene Angelina und die bescheidene, schöne Adélka, der listige Verwalter, der sich nur darum kümmert, wie er seinen eigenen Geldbeutel auf Kosten der fürstlichen Schatzkammer füllt, die Der ehrliche Peter, der von seiner bösen und gierigen Stiefmutter Dorota Máchalová gehasst wird, versucht, den Verwalter ihrer Heimatmühle zu berauben. Und es gibt auch die Hölle, die alle schlechten Taten sorgfältig überwacht und im richtigen Moment entschlossene Maßnahmen ergreift. Und als die Zeit abgelaufen ist, wird der junge Teufel Janek geschickt, um die böse Dorota in die Hölle zu bringen. Allerdings bringt er aus Versehen Peters gute Großmutter mit, und als er versucht, den Fehler zu korrigieren, landet er bei Peter in der fürstlichen Armee. Ausnahmsweise war er auf der Flucht vor den Intrigen des Verwalters und wäre den Krähen entkommen, doch dann hielt er an, weil er die Töchter des Prinzen unter Einsatz seines Lebens rettete, als er ihre Kutsche mit verängstigten Pferden anhielt. Petr und Janek werden Freunde und Petr bietet an, dem Teufel bei der Erfüllung der Aufgabe zu helfen. Aber auch zu zweit wird es nicht einfach, denn Dorota hat immer eine Feder zur Hand, die für den Teufel eine Katastrophe ist.
V jednom malém knížectví žijí všichni, kdo ve správné pohádce nesmějí chybět. Stárnoucí kníže, kterého už nebaví vládnout, jeho dvě dcery - zlomyslná, nafoukaná Angelina a skromná, pohledná Adélka, vychytralý správce, který se stará jen o to, jak naplnit vlastní měšec na úkor knížecí pokladny, čestný Petr, kterého se zlá a chtivá macecha Dorota Máchalová snaží se správcem připravit o rodný mlýn. A taky je tu peklo, které pečlivě sleduje všechny špatné skutky a v pravou chvíli rázně zakročí. A tak když se čas naplní, je vyslán mladý čert Janek, aby přinesl do pekla zlou Dorotu. Omylem však přinese Petrovu hodnou babičku, a když se pokouší chybu napravit, skončí s Petrem v knížecím vojsku. Ten pro změnu prchal před intrikami správce a jistě by drábům utekl, jenže pak se zdržel, protože s nasazením života zachránil knížecí dcery, když zastavil jejich kočár se splašenými koňmi. Petr a Janek se skamarádí a Petr se nabídne, že čertovi pomůže dokončit úkol. Dokonce i ve dvou však nebude snadný, protože Dorota má vždy po ruce nějaké to pírko, které je pro čerta pohromou.

The aging prince, who is tired of ruling, his two daughters - the mischievous, puffed-up Angelina and the modest, beautiful Adélka, the cunning administrator who only cares about how to fill his own purse at the expense of the princely treasury, the honest Peter, who is hated by his evil and greedy stepmother Dorota Máchalová is trying to deprive the administrator of her native mill. And there is also hell, which carefully monitors all bad deeds and takes decisive action at the right moment. And so when the time is up, the young devil Janek is sent to bring the evil Dorota to hell. However, he accidentally brings Peter's good grandmother, and when he tries to correct the mistake, he ends up with Peter in the princely army. He, for a change, was fleeing from the intrigues of the administrator and would have escaped the crows, but then he stopped because he saved the prince's daughters at the risk of his life when he stopped their carriage with frightened horses. Petr and Janek become friends and Petr offers to help the devil complete the task. Even with two, however, it will not be easy, because Dorota always has some feather at hand that is a disaster for the devil.
Česká rozprávková komédia o jednom pekelnom omyle, dvoch kamarátoch a troch nepotrestaných hriešnikoch, nakrútená na motívy rozprávky Boženy Němcovej... S takou macochou by si nikto radšej nič nezačínal. A keď, tak jedine s pomocou čerta. Peter vďaka nej už nemá vôbec nič a tak sa radšej pobral kade ľahšie. Na ceste sa však nielen spriatelí s čertom, ktorý sa stane jeho najlepším priateľom, ale stihne zachrániť aj dcéry miestneho kniežaťa. Všetko zlé sa človeku raz vráti a s dobrom je to presne tak isto. Netreba hádam pripomínať, kde skončí macocha a kde Peter…
