云南边陲小镇南德的缉毒女警安心（赵薇）的生命中一共出现过4个男人，铁军（陈建斌）、毛杰（谢霆锋）、杨瑞（柳云龙）先后令她的心泛起过涟漪，而作为长辈的潘队（孙海英），则始终当她是孩子，对她的生活照顾有加。 在平静的外表下，安心内藏一颗汹涌澎湃的心，她渴望激情却要考虑理智与责任，于是逐渐身陷进退维谷，有意无意之间令自己和铁军、毛杰等人的命运变得无法掌控。——安心的多重身份（警察、妻子、母亲、情人等）令她复杂，而这种复杂同她所追求的简单作对比时折射出“宿命”意味。
