Tom Cat is sleeping near the fireplace, and Jerry Mouse carefully sneaks past him. He goes up onto the dinner table and tries to reach for the food, but Tom attempts to slice him with a knife and he retreats, running up the staircase. Tom pulls the carpet off the staircase to catch Jerry, but also pulls down a large Piano. While Jerry gets out of the piano's path, the piano crushes Tom to death. Tom's spirit ascends to the "Heavenly Express", a steam train that sends dead cats to Heaven.
Nell'inseguire e tormentare Jerry, Tom finisce per farsi cadere addosso un pianoforte dalle scale, morendo schiacciato e salendo in cielo sotto forma di spirito su una scala mobile dorata. Qui scopre che le anime dei gatti morti raggiungono l'Espresso Celeste, una moderna metropolitana che li porterà in paradiso. Sfortunatamente il gatto ferroviere, custode del treno e della burocrazia celeste, non può far salire Tom per essersi comportato male con Jerry quando era in vita, poiché i gatti mangiano i topi per natura ma non li torturano come lui. Il gatto custode dice a Tom che l'Espresso Celeste partirà tra un'ora e gli da un certificato di perdono: Tom, per poter passare, dovrà far firmare a Jerry, entro la partenza del treno, questo certificato; in caso contrario finirà all'inferno, dove sarà tormentato e condannato in eterno da Spike, il bulldog travestito da diavolo...
