אהרון מקדיש את חייו לטיפול בבנו אורי, נער על הרצף האוטיסטי. השניים חיים יחד בשלווה ובהרמוניה, רחוקים מכולם, כשאהרון עושה הכל כדי לגונן על אורי מפני העולם שבחוץ. אבל כעת, כשאורי מתבגר, נראה שהגיע הגיל שבו כדאי שיעבור לגור בסביבה המתאימה לאנשים עם צרכים דומים לשלו. כשהם בדרכם למקום שיהיה ביתו החדש של אורי, אהרון מרגיש שאורי אינו מוכן לפרידה והשניים משנים כיוון ויוצאים למסע ברחבי הארץ — מסע שישנה את חיי שניהם.

Aaron a consacré sa vie à élever son fils autiste Uri. Ensemble, ils vivent dans une routine coupée du monde réel. 愛する息子ウリのために人生を捧げてきた父アハロンは、田舎町で2人だけの世界を楽しんできた。しかし、別居中の妻タマラは自閉症スペクトラムを抱える息子の将来を心配し、全寮制の支援施設への入所を決める。定収入のないアハロンは養育不適合と判断され、裁判所の決定に従うしかなかった。入所の日、ウリは大好きな父との別れにパニックを起こしてしまう。アハロンは決意した。「息子は自分が守る―」こうして2人の無謀な逃避行が始まった。

Aharon wijdt zijn hele leven aan de opvoeding van zijn autistische zoon Uri; hij gaf er zelfs zijn job voor op. Na zijn echtscheiding wordt de speciale band tussen vader en zoon nog inniger. Maar Uri wordt volwassen, de maatschappelijk werkers en zijn ex-vrouw willen dat hij in een instelling gaat wonen. Op weg naar het tehuis krijgt Uri een grote angstaanval, waarop Aharon besluit met Uri te vluchten: het begin van een lange reis.
