Weil sie die Muse in der Stadt nicht küssen mag, düsen die Musiker Theo und Bert raus aufs Land. Prompt weckt eine glockenhelle Stimme aus dem Pferdestall ihre Aufmerksamkeit. Doch statt einer holden Schönen finden sie einen schmutzigen Stallburschen. Belustigt küren sie ihn zu ihrem Diener. Die Jungs ahnen nicht, dass der Bub die verkleidete Köhlerstochter Liesel ist.
