In June 2003, five years after Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan, an undercover government agent in Camp Crystal Lake lures Jason Voorhees into a trap set by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and armed men blow him to bits. His remains are sent to a morgue, where a coroner becomes possessed by Jason's spirit after eating Jason's putrid heart. Jason, now in the coroner's body, escapes the morgue.
Decades after a boy, Jason Voorhees, drowned at Camp Crystal Lake due to the negligence of the camp staff, the lake is rumored to be "cursed" and is the setting for a series of mass murders.
