Jules et Jim

Paris, avant la Première Guerre mondiale. Jim, un Français, et Jules, un Autrichien, sont des amis inséparables. Ils tombent amoureux de la même femme, Catherine, mais c'est Jules que Catherine épouse. Après la guerre, Jim rejoint le couple en Autriche. Catherine avoue qu'elle n'est pas heureuse avec Jules, lequel accepte que sa femme prenne Jim pour amant. Mais Catherine est éternellement insatisfaite et change sans cesse d'avis sur son choix amoureux.

Paris, 1912. Dois amigos, o alemão Jules e o francês Jim apaixonam-se pela mesma mulher, Catherine. Catherine casa com Jules. Após a Grande Guerra, na qual Jules e Jim combatem em campos opostos, os três amigos reencontram-se na Alemanha, onde Jules vive com Catherine, e esta apaixona-se por Jim.

The film is set before, during, and after the World War I in several different parts of France, Austria, and Germany. Jules (Oskar Werner) is a shy writer from Austria who forges a friendship with the more extroverted Frenchman, Jim (Henri Serre). They share an interest in the world of the arts and the Bohemianism lifestyle. At a slide show, they become entranced with a bust of a goddess and her serene smile and travel to see the ancient statue on an island in the Adriatic Sea.
