Rafael trabaja como ayudante de cámara de un marqués. Acusado de haber cometido una falta en el servicio, es despedido, si bien todo se debe a los manejos del administrador. Poco después se produce un incidente callejero en el que se ve envuelto el noble. Su antiguo empleado de confianza interviene en su defensa, aunque sin poder evitar su muerte.
