A Marseille en 1974, une fillette de 8 ans est enlevée par un inconnu. Très rapidement son corps est retrouvé et un jeune homme de 20 ans, Christian Ranucci, est arrêté. Après un interrogatoire musclé, le suspect passe aux aveux, avant de se rétracter. Bien que son dossier comporte de nombreuses zones d'ombres, il est reconnu coupable lors du procès.
