Maria Morales (Amanda da Gloria) beobachtet zufällig einen Vorfall vor einer Kneipe, der mehr in ihrem Leben in Gang setzt, als sie in diesem Moment ahnen kann. Sie wird Zeugin, wie die Polizistin Layla Rekabi (Maral Keshavarz) ihren Kollegen Tommy Bockhorn (Merlin Rose) brutal zusammenschlägt. Vor der Anwältin Annabelle Martinelli beteuert Layla ihre Unschuld, die Kollegen bei der Polizei zeichnen derweil ein anderes Bild von ihr.
