40 Jahre vor den Ereignissen aus „Minions“ sind die gelben Chaoten im goldenen Hollywoodzeitalter besessen von der Idee, einen eigenen Monsterfilm auf die Beine zu stellen. Doch dafür braucht man bekanntermaßen auch filmreife Monster, die man mithilfe eines magischen Buches heraufbeschwören möchte. Doch wie bei den Minions üblich geht auch dieser Plan gehörig nach hinten los und schon bald schwebt der gesamte Planet in Gefahr.
