A 4.300 metros sobre el nivel del mar, en el salar de Surire, un puñado de ancianos -últimos sobrevivientes de la cultura aymara en el área- convive entremezclado con flamencos, vicuñas, llamas y la maquinaria de una faena minera. Éste es el retrato de un espacio único donde se confunden la belleza natural, el absurdo humano y el ocaso cultural.
