Un jeune garçon est engagé comme liftier dans un grand hotel à la mort de sa mère. Pour réaliser son reve, il participe à un concours mis sur pied par le Directeur, et gagne le 1er prix : un séjour de deux jours dans une des suites princières. Il veut en faire profiter sa jeune amie, la fleuriste, mais découvre qu'elle l'a trahi et retourne à son ascenseur.
