Karim, un jeune tunisien de 22 ans, quitte pour la première fois son pays pour tourner le nouveau film de Rose Blanchard, une réalisatrice underground rencontrée à Tunis quelques mois plus tôt. Malgré de sérieux problèmes financiers, le tournage commence. Karim est éperdument amoureux de Rose, bien qu'il sache qu'elle a une liaison avec Paul Marais, un écrivain célèbre.
