Une famille juive ultra-orthodoxe se rend chaque année dans une ferme du sud de l’Italie afin d'accomplir une mission sacrée : la récolte des cédrats. Esther, en pleine remise en cause des contraintes imposées par sa religion fait la connaissance d’Elio, le propriétaire de la ferme. Et si le face à face entre ces mondes était la genèse d’une autre histoire ?
