Professor Habakuk Tibatong lebt mit seinem Adoptivsohn Tim Tintenklecks, Pinguin Ping, Schuhschnabel Schusch, dem Waran Wawa und dem See-Elefanten Seelefant auf der Südseeinsel Titiwu. Eines Tages wird ein Ei angeschwemmt und ein paar Tage später schlüpft tatsächlich ein seltsames grünes Wesen! Fortan ist auf der Insel nichts mehr so wie vor dem Tag, an dem Urmel aus dem Eis zu ihnen kam!
