Esme (Türkan Şoray) köyün en güzel kızıdır. Yaşadığı yörede herkes ona vurgundur. Esme de köyün yiğit delikanlısı eşkıya Abbas'a (Mahmut Cevher) sevdalıdır, ama köy ağası Halim'le (Ahmet Mekin) evlenmek zorunda kalmıştır. Bu evlilikten çocuğu olmuştur. Esme uğruna elini kana bulayıp, on bir yıldır hapislerde yatan Abbas bir gün çıkar gelir.
